Under both the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER 98) and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER 98), every forklift truck must undergo a Thorough Examination at least once every 12 months – or sooner, depending on usage and operating conditions.

It applies regardless of whether your equipment is owned, leased, or rented – the responsibility to ensure compliance always remains with the operator or business in control of the equipment.
